Why the Hemingway Monument Still Matters
It is useful and maybe refreshing that a new book by Steve Paul allows us to meet a pre-monumental Ernest Hemingway.
David Schuman is a senior lecturer in English at Washington University in St. Louis, where he directs the MFA program and coordinates the creative writing concentration for undergraduate English majors. His fiction, nonfiction, and reviews have appeared in Catapult, Joyland, Missouri Review, Carolina Quarterly, Conjunctions, Black Warrior Review, The Rumpus and many other publications. He has been awarded a Pushcart Prize and his story, “Stay,” was listed as a distinguished story in Best American Short Stories.
