Carlehr Swanson

Carlehr Swanson is a second-year Ph.D. student at the University of Virginia studying critical and comparative studies in music. Carlehr’s research areas include Black Studies, Detroit gospel music, and civic engagement. She is the founder of Music is Unity, an arts advocacy organization that takes music performances to those that need it most. In addition, she is the host of “Coffee with Carlehr,” a gospel radio show on 101.3 Jamz in Charlottesville, VA. Carlehr is also a sought-after pianist and vocalist.
